Hello Bristol!

Hi guys,

After a 12 and a half torturous flight, I have finally left the bustling city of Hong Kong and landed into the beautiful city of Bristol in the UK. I will be starting my five years medical degree here.

I arrived at London in the wee hours of the morning and waited through immigration and took a 2 hour car ride to Bristol. I arrived at around noon and moved in to my dorm. As of current time, I still have things everywhere. Tomorrow, I am going with my parents to Ikea and Argos to get more storage drawers/boxes and a printer (so much cheaper than using the one at the university). My first impression of this city is that it is very friendly and beautiful. The architecture here is so detailed and victorian. My parents and I walked around and surprisingly it actually wasn't that cold.

To end the night, we decided to go for some delicious roast and an apple and raspberry crumble. It was a great first day at Bristol!

Freshers start tomorrow, so we'll see what is there to come! Bye!

See you soon Hong Kong

I have 12 hours left in Hong Kong, so here are some pictures of my last week here.

Tried some molecular ice-cream. Wasn't really worth the hype but quite cool.

Lobster Angel Hair at one of my favourite restaurants

Enjoying some drinks at the bar

Delicious afternoon tea set.

Farewell my friends!

Old buildings.

Last of the beautiful skies before heading to the miserable weather in the UK.

Good bye  Hong Kong, you are truly the city that never sleeps. Going to miss you in the UK!
See you in Dec!

L'oreal True Match Touche Magique

I have been using this concealer/ illuminator for under my eyes.

L'oreal says: "True Match Touche Magique Concealer has a sleek twist-top pen that helps correct dark circles, removes imperfections and brighten the shadowy areas. Applied to the eye area, Touche Magique instantly rejuvenates, perfects and illuminates to leave eyes looking radiant. Applied to the nose, it refines pores and dark shadows.

I would recommend this product. It gives a full coverage and blends quite well. It is quite pigmented so you only need to use very little each time  It does correct the dark circles under the eye. However, the applicator twist-top isn't that good. The concealer doesn't always come out onto the brush. Sometimes, just a twist will leak too much product and sometimes none will come out even after a few twists. It is quite worth the cost even though the packaging looks quite cheap. Overall, this is a great drug-store product and is definitely worth the price!

New Start. New Colour.

It is time for change. As I mentioned in previous posts, I am leaving Hong Kong for a completely new city to embark on a new adventure - medical school. I decided that why not change up a bit too. So today, I went to the hair salon and highlight my hair. I used to have straight black hair, now it has some spice to it. Nothing to crazy because I still need to remain professional for placements, but the colour to bring out my brown eyes.

I have a halo :P

Here is the finish product. What do you guys think?

Summer diary 2013

Hello everyone,

It's time to dig out the jumpers and boots because summer is ending. So here is a recap of what happened in the past four and a half months!

To kickstart summer, my family and I went to Langkawi in early June to relax and enjoy the sunshine for a few days.

A month after that, we went to Taipei. Below are pictures of Freedom Square (I think that's what its called, well more of a direct translation).

Here is a marching band practicing in the heat.

We also visited the Raohe Street Night Market. There are a lot of stalls that sell delicious Chinese street food.

This is a picture of eroded rocks at the Yao Li Geological Park.

Some of the delicious seafood we had at the fish market.

It isn't summer if there's no red velvet cupcakes involved!

Time flies. My best friend is off to university! Good luck :D

This summer has gone by way too fast. Time to get ready for uni!

Body Shop Raspberry Eau de Toilette

I'm on the hunt for a new fragrance because my Stila Jade Blossom one is nearly out. I was looking for a more heart-warming sweet scent for the upcoming fall season. I passed by the body shop the other day and found the perfect one - the Raspberry Eau de Toilette. It is a limited edition one that is sold  for $149 HKD, £12 for 30 mL which is quite good.

It isn't a heavy sickly-sweet scent, but gives off a very girly deep candy scent. It is very heart-warming and smells absolutely amazing. However, since it is an Eau de Toilette, it doesn't last as long, 2 hours max in hot weather, but 5-6 in the cool autumn breeze. That being said, this is definitely the scent for autumn and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a new perfume.

Paint my Moji-toes Red

OPI "Paint my Moji-toes Red" is absolutely gorgeous, a great colour to start off the autumn season. It is warm rosy strawberry colour with orange undertones. (I attempted to take a picture of my nails, but the colour and lighting in the picture just doesn't do it justice.) There are tiny sparkles if you look closely. This red is very rich and sophisticated, and not too bright. It is suitable for any occasions from fancy cocktails to casual outfits.  It makes my skin looks very healthy and doesn't need a tan to look good. Like all other OPI nail varnish, it applies smoothly and the true colour comes out when you apply 2 coats. All in all, I would definitely recommend this shade for fall!

The Autumn Tag

This tag was taken off Shona and created by Georgina.

It's the time of year when the leaves change colour and the weather becomes perfect for a nice little stroll through the park. So I thought it would be appropriate to start this lovely season off with the infamous autumn tag.

For Autumn, what is your...

Favourite thing about it?
The beauty. I love how the leaves change colour and adding a sense of coziness to the busy and intense atmosphere. This doesn't really happen here in Hong Kong, but I've experience this is the bustling city of New York. and fell in love with the colours it added. I'm heading off to the UK soon, so I can't wait to lie on the grass and enjoy the lovely scenery.

Favourite drink?
Hot Apple Cider with a touch of cinnamon. The sweetness just adds some extra warmth!

Favourite scent/candle?
Vanilla Chai by Yankee Candle. It brews the air with a spicy but hearty scent that makes the room feels so cozy.

Best Lipstick?
Estee Lauder pure colour long lasting lipstick in colour number 16 "Candy Shimmer". It is a deeper pink, somewhat fuchsia colour with silver sparkles. I know from the past that it is very moisturising and creamy. It is easy to put on and doesn't dry out my lips. I think this will be my go-to colour in the fall.

Go to Moisturiser?
Jurlique Rose Moisture Plus with Antioxidant Complex. I got this recently and I find that my skin feels very replenished afterwards.

Go to Colour for the Eyes?
I'm still a neutrals girl. But I think I might go for a nice rose gold or purple for this fall just for a change.

Favourite music or band//singer to listen to?
Backstreet Boys new album "In a World like this". This album is going to be on repeat throughout this season!

Favourite outfit to wear?
I have 2 favourite outfits for this time of year, both of which involves my skinny jeans.  First would be with a nice jumper and my long leather boots. Second would be a nice plain long sleeve shirt with a leather jacket, accessorised with an infinity scarf and suede heeled ankle boots.

Autumn Treat?
A pair of burgundy suede closed-toe heels. I've been wanting a pair for a few dresses I have!

Favourite Place to be?
The park! As mentioned above, I love the colour of the leaves at this time of years. I don't mind sitting under a tree, absorbing in the scenery and watching the world go by.

If you love this season, I would love for you to do this tag and share what you like about fall!

Medical School

Hello peeps!
In addition to all the beauty reviews, fashion trends and such, there will be a section about my experience at Bristol Medical School. The reason behind this was when I was researching which university I was going to choose and weather the medical school would fit me, it was very hard to find some experiences by the medical students. So here it is for you future medics. Follow me through my medical school journey!

I am an international student from Hong Kong going in blind to Bristol this coming fall. I haven't been to Bristol at all, so I am in for a surprise when I get there. I've gotten my Visa and am in the midst of all the packing (which means a lot of shopping for more wintery clothes!). I'll tell you more when I am about to go!

Hello.

Just an 18 year old international medical student establishing her existence on the internet. I can't wait to get started to share my opinions on beauty products, my experiences and all things pretty and nice. Bare with me as I figure this out. Cheers!
